An Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit business identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Government of India. It is mandatory for any business or individual engaged in import or export of goods and services from India. The IEC helps track international trade transactions and is used by customs and banks for processing import-export documentation.
