Types of ICEGATE User Roles:
Icegate (Indian Customs Electronic Gateway) allows users to operate under different predefined roles depending on their function in the trade ecosystem. These roles help determine the level of access, responsibility, and permissions each user has within the system.

Here are some of the most common user categories and their general functions:

Administrator: Typically assigned within the user’s organization, administrators manage internal users, set up access levels, and coordinate documentation flow through the Icegate portal. They do not represent Icegate or assign global access but manage team-level usage.

Importer/Exporter: Registered businesses or individuals who submit customs declarations, track shipments, and access related documents for import or export activity via Icegate.

CHA (Customs House Agent): Authorized professionals who act on behalf of importers/exporters. They file customs documentation and declarations through ICEGATE, enabling smooth clearance of goods.

Warehouse Operator: Manage bonded or customs-notified warehouses. They use ICEGATE for inventory reporting, customs filing, and regulatory coordination for warehoused goods.

Shipping Line/Shipping Agent: Entities responsible for transportation and container logistics. These users submit advance cargo and shipment data through Icegate

Transporters: Road, rail, and air transporters provide advance cargo information to customs for tracking goods in transit. ICEGATE allows real-time data updates for cargo movement.

Clearing House (CFS/ICD): Container Freight Stations and Inland Container Depots use ICEGATE to coordinate cargo handling, customs inspection scheduling, and container consolidation.

Consignee/Consignor: Parties listed in the Bill of Lading or airway bill. They may access ICEGATE to track the status of their cargo and review customs-related documentation.

Supporting User: These include supporting staff, sub-accounts, or authorized team members who assist in trade documentation, compliance, or portal operation for any of the above roles.

⚠️ Important Note:

Icegate is a government-managed portal operated by the Indian Customs Department. Roles are assigned based on the applicant’s profile, and access is granted only after approval from customs authorities.

Shree Incorporation provides private consulting and support services to help businesses understand documentation, prepare digital signatures, and onboard with Icegate as per public guidelines. We do not assign roles or represent any government body.
